What Is MCP and How to Connect AI Tools to Your Bardiyah Project

The Version He Could No Longer Identify

He copied the script out of Bardiyah, pasted it into the assistant's chat, and asked for a review.

Back came a revised version, so he copied that and pasted it into Bardiyah.

Then he edited two lines himself in Bardiyah.

Then he remembered something else he wanted to ask the assistant, so he copied and pasted again, but the assistant was still holding the old version in the conversation, and built its notes on that.

An hour later he had three versions: one in Bardiyah, one at the start of the chat, one at the end. Each with an edit the others didn't have.

The work wasn't the hard part. The moving was.

What MCP Is, Simply

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, a standard way for an AI assistant to communicate with a particular application or service.

Instead of every application needing its own integration method, MCP provides a shared language: any assistant that understands the protocol can work with any application that supports it.

The Difference Between Copy-Paste and a Direct Connection

Without MCP, if you want an AI assistant to help with a script, you copy the text out of Bardiyah, paste it into the assistant's chat, take the reply, then copy it back into Bardiyah. And at every step there's a chance of error or lost context, as happened at the top of this article.

With MCP, the assistant reaches your data in Bardiyah directly. No copying, no pasting, and no stale version of the script sitting in a separate conversation out of sync with the real one.

What the Assistant Can Actually Do

When you connect an assistant like Claude to a Bardiyah account via MCP, it becomes able to:

  • Read your saved ideas and suggest which are ready to become projects.
  • Write a first draft of a script from an existing idea, as covered in: how to write a YouTube video script in Bardiyah, step by step.
  • Review an existing script and suggest edits to specific cards without rewriting the whole thing.
  • Help you organise a project containing more than one episode or video.

Data Security and Access Limits

An MCP connection reaches only the account actually connected, not other users' data.

And the assistant works within your account's own permissions, meaning it can't do anything you can't do.

Why This Matters to Creators Specifically

Creators use AI assistants at different stages: generating ideas, drafting, reviewing.

And if every stage requires manual copying and pasting, the time spent moving text exceeds the time spent actually thinking. An MCP connection removes that step entirely.

How to Start

The first step is enabling the MCP connection in your Bardiyah account settings, then connecting it to the assistant you use.

Once connected you can ask the assistant directly about your ideas or projects instead of opening Bardiyah in a separate window, and you'll never have more than one version.
